Why should your practice use animated videos to attract new clients?

As an attorney, you’re probably always looking for new clients. Traditionally, referrals were your primary source of new clients, but law videos have gained traction in recent years due to their ability to capture and retain viewer attention.

Eyes are shifting online in today’s always-connected world, and new opportunities to win clients from places like YouTube have emerged. Video is expected to account for more than 80% of all IP traffic by 2021.

So, if you don’t already have videos online, you’re passing up a huge opportunity (and if you do, make sure you’re doing everything possible to get them seen).

Most law firm videos are tedious.

Most law firm videos look the same. They’re live-action (actual people speaking into a camera) and have scripts that begin with something like, “If you or a loved one have been in an accident…” While they are informative and preferable to not having one, they do little to help you stand out and be remembered when you need them to.

Animated law firm videos help you stand out and keep potential clients in mind when it matters the most.
Instead, your law firm should create animated law firm videos that inform, educate, and entertain. Custom animated videos have become popular in many industries, but the legal industry has been slow to catch on until recently.

We’ve seen an increase in requests from law firms looking to use animation to help their marketing evolve and stand out, and you should too if you haven’t already.

Animated law firm videos are notable.

Automobile accidents are extremely dangerous. Workplace injuries are also common. Animation and humor lighten the mood and make scary topics like these more approachable and enjoyable.

Dennis and Paul Grossman of California, for example, collaborated with us to create a series of 30-second animated videos. Their videos are available online and on the Spanish-language TV channel Univision in the Fresno area. The videos are simple and entertaining, and they incorporate our stickman and jibjab animation styles, giving them a human touch.

In their auto accident commercial, for example, the Grossmans heroically ride in on horseback to assist a client who has just been in a car accident. The attorneys then assist the injured character with medical expenses, auto repairs, and other damages, conveying important messages in a fun and unique manner.

Their law firm videos are memorable because of the combination of audio, visuals, and onscreen text. And research supports it: studies show that people remember 10% of what they hear, 20% of what they read, and 80% of what they see and hear.

Animated videos aid in the discovery of your law firm.

Uploading videos to YouTube with proper titles, descriptions and other metadata allows them to be indexed by search engines and appear in search results when people search for related keywords (YouTube is the world’s second-largest search engine).

When people search for “[your town] attorney” or “Car Accident lawyer [your town],” for example, your video may appear, directing new clients to your law firm.

If you don’t have videos on YouTube, you’re passing up a huge opportunity to reach out to potential customers.

Once your videos are on YouTube, make sure to optimize them every few months by adding/removing video tags, adding them to new playlists you may have created, and even thinking about running targeted ads to people who fit your ideal demographic.
